Steward Committee
MANDATE
The Steward Committee:
• is comprised of the Chief Steward and all other Local stewards;
• discusses current problems, grievances, education and other matters of concern to the Local. This committee may make recommendations to the Executive;
• is responsible for current cases, referring cases for a grievance(s) to the Local Grievance Committee.

Chief Steward:
• is an active Steward;
• chairs the Steward Committee meetings, ensures minutes are taken and meetings are held at least six (6) times yearly;
• reports that Committee's activities to the Local Executive and membership;
• provides a training seminar for stewards, at least once yearly;
• is a member of the Grievance Committee;
• is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the training and education of stewards;
• with the approval of the Executive Committee, temporarily suspends or terminates a steward from active duty. Appeals of such decisions are taken to the membership.

COMMITTEE ACTIVITY
Training is held throughout the year.
The Committee meets monthly for 2 hours during lunch (booking off is provided). Refreshments
are served.
Stewards are given materials on a regular basis to update their handbook.
