Two UBC locals ready for bargaining

March 31, 2010

"VANCOUVER —Support workers in CUPE locals 116 and 2950 at the University of British Columbia have served notice for bargaining. The two locals represent 3,600 workers in trades, custodial, food services, clerical, library, technicians, and support workers at the Chan centre. They join university support workers in other CUPE locals across the province whose contracts expire today (March 31). CUPE university workers' locals are coordinating their independent bargaining efforts through CUPE’s Universities Coordinated Bargaining Committee."

Collective Bargaining 2010
"UBC's collective agreements, which were last negotiated in March 2006, expire in 2010. The University will negotiate bargaining teams for the unions and associations for all nine of our agreements. Human Resources will keep UBC community members informed with regard to further developments around collective bargaining through bargaining bulletins and other electronic correspondence."

2010 UNITED WAY LOANED REPRESENTATIVE OPPORTUNITIES [pdf]
Each year, two UBC employees are ‘loaned’ to United Way to serve as an extension of United Way staff by acting as a full-time resource person to Employee Campaign Co-ordinators and committees at UBC and various workplaces around the Lower Mainland.
